Almost Famous (2000)
Stillwater (a rock group based on Led Zeppelin) is on the cusp of success, and 15-year-old William Miller (Patrick Fugit) is on the cusp of the rest of his life. Based on director Cameron Crowe's experiences, Almost Famous is an enchanting coming-of-age story.

The Complete Monterey Pop Festival (3-Disc Series) (1968)
In 1967, cinematographer D.A. Pennebaker -- famous for his cinema verite style -- was in California to capture the searing performances of the likes of such icons as The Mamas and the Papas, Otis Redding and The Who on the Monterey International Pop Festival stage. Special features in this director-approved collection include substantial concert and behind-the-scenes footage.
Starring: Michelle Phillips, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Scott McKenzie, John Phillips, "Mama" Cass Elliot, Denny Doherty, Hugh Masekela, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Janis Joplin, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon, John Entwistle, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Ravi Shankar << not a complete list! and doens't include band names...

My Life as a Dog (1985)
Mitt Liv Som Hund
This Oscar-nominated gem offers an honest depiction of the often-confusing nature of childhood. Shipped off to live with his uncle for the summer, 12-year-old Ingmar finds unexpected adventures with the help of the town's warmhearted eccentrics. These experiences give him the strength to accept his life and eventually enjoy childhood.
Starring: Anton Glanzelius, Anki Liden, Tomas von Bromssen
Director: Lasse Hallström
Genres: Foreign Comedies, Tearjerkers, Drama, Foreign, Scandinavian

Other features: Possibly one of the best-put-together Fox Lorber DVDs in circulation, with the original Swedish audio, an English dub and English subtitles. (On many Fox Lorber discs, the subtitles are burnt directly into the image -- a packaging of the VHS transfers onto disc.) Also included are an awards listing and some talent information. The image is full frame, and the sound is Dolby 2.0.
